FAST RETAILING views compliance as vital to fulfilling our social responsibility. We have established a framework for making compliance an integral component of our operations. In addition, we have developed a Code of Conduct for employees and taken other actions to raise awareness of compliance throughout the FAST RETAILING Group.
Establishment of Compliance System
Our compliance programs go beyond the simple observance of laws and regulations. We also want our employees to base their actions on moral and ethical guidelines. To accomplish these goals, we have established an effective framework for compliance activities.

Preparation of Code of Conduct
FAST RETAILING unveiled its Code of Conduct in September 2004. The Code encompasses not only compliance with laws and regulations, but also calls for Group employees to base their activities on ethical guidelines. In all, the Code of Conduct sets standards for relationships with all stakeholders and defines acceptable behavior with regard to a broad range of corporate activities.
In October 2006, the Code of Conduct was revised to reflect the increasingly global nature of FAST RETAILING's activities and the increasing size of our Group.
Major Steps to Promote Compliance
Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct applies to employees of UNIQLO and all other members of the FAST RETAILING Group. All employees of Group companies review and reaffirm their commitment to the Code on a regular basis. Furthermore, every employee must sign a Code of Conduct oath of allegiance. At information meetings for new employees, everyone receives an explanation of the Code and is then asked to sign the oath of allegiance. This system ensures that all employees have a full understanding of the Code.
Compliance Hot Line
UNIQLO has established a hot line to give employees easy access to specialists to discuss problems involving work and the Code of Conduct. The hot line is accessible by telephone, facsimile, e-mail, regular mail and other means.
Protection of Personal Information
Training activities concerning the Code of Conduct include discussions of the importance of properly handling personal information. Furthermore, UNIQLO initiated a company-wide personal information project prior to the enactment of Japan's Personal Information Protection Law in order to identify key issues and formulate specific countermeasures. As a result, we currently have strong measures in place to protect personal information. Examples include our personal information handling guidelines, fingerprint ID and other methods to control access to rooms where personal information is handled, and tight restrictions on employee access to personal information.
